Founders of The DanO Fund

Mark Olsen, Co-Founder

Mark OlsenI created the DanO Fund with Royce McEwen after losing a family member to suicide. Over the years, the DanO community has grown to include so many people who have experienced the loss of a family member, friend or co-worker. Acting as Board Chairman, the goal of The DanO Fund is to promote mental wellness by addressing the stigma surrounding mental illness and suicide.

Personally, it’s about all of us who have been impacted by mental illness and/or suicide. I’m more passionate now than ever as such things as Covid have greatly increased the numbers of individuals who are reaching out for help.

We all stand together. Together we do make a difference!

Royce McEwen, Co-Founder

As Co-Founder of The DanO Fund, I partner with Mark to organize fundraising events that support the mental health community. My favorite thing about working with The DanO Fund are the connections we make at our events.

My entire career was in the financial services industry. For 17 years, I worked as a financial advisor for Thrivent Financial. I retired in 2018, and now lend my expertise to charitable organizations.

I grew up in Ortonville, Minnesota, and attended Augsburg College in the 1970s, which is when I connected with the Olsen family. I’ve been married to my wife Pat for 42 years, and we have two daughters and five grandchildren together.

Are you or a loved one struggling with mental illness?

You’re not alone, and help is available. The DanO Fund itself doesn’t provide mental health services, but we’re glad to recommend some trusted organizations that do.
